Results of Enforcement Blitz

“An enforcement blitz aimed at protecting lake trout found the vast majority of anglers abiding by the rules.

The Ministry of Natural Resources blitz took place in Sault Ste. Marie, Kirkland Lake, Timmins, North Bay and Sudbury districts from March 1 to March 15, 2006.

Conservation officers checked nearly 400 anglers, uncovered 23 violations and laid 18 charges, the most common of which was failing to have or carry an angling licence. If a conservation officer asks to see your licence, you must show it.

Officers also found an additional eight violations that did not involve fishing, including offences involving motorized snow vehicles.

For information on fishing regulations, please consult the 2005-2006 Recreational Fishing Regulations Summary, or contact the nearest ministry district office.
